It’s not every day you find a rare gem like the Casa Pellegrino Boutique Hotel. As my TripAdvisor review is titled, it’s a Mediterranean “Oasis in the Middle of Hollywood, FL!” This little hotel opened up less than a year ago and has quickly risen to the top of line in terms of accommodations available in this area.
This property is gorgeous and truly makes you feel like you’re in Italy. As the name of the hotel may suggest, it is owned by an Italian family who makes every effort to make sure your stay exceeds expectations. You can really tell that they want you to feel like a guest in their home to them and not just one of their hundreds of hotel guests they receive over time.
Alessandro, the owner’s son, greeted me on arrival with the warmest of welcomes. He offered me a handshake, a glass of wine, and a tour of the property and its amenities. The property is made up of three smaller buildings that house the rooms–Greece, Spain, and Italy. Alessandro offered to help with luggage and even upgraded my room to the “Crete” room. Greek olives and cold cuts were in the refrigerator on arrival–my favorite! The hand-written card on the bed was also a nice, personal touch and gives you a bit of history and culture of the family.
The room was impeccably clean and the beds large and very comfortable. The decor is very modern and stylish. The air conditioning and all other facilities were very modern and worked great. My room was right near the street, but since I sleep with the TV on anyway, it didn’t bother me at all. Just keep that in mind if you’re an extremely light sleeper you may want to ask for a room on the other side.
They offer beach towels and chairs to take to the beach which is only steps away. The hotel is in the perfect location right by the Broadwalk (yes, it’s “broadwalk”, not “boardwalk”) and very reasonably priced/a great value for money. At this time, breakfast isn’t offered complimentary but there is a market very close and the rooms have kitchens. They are currently in the process of building a little nook where food can be prepared to be enjoyed in their beautiful courtyard area. There is elegant music played in the common area for your enjoyment and relaxation as well.
The hotel owners will do anything they can to accommodate you and make you feel comfortable. Because my flight wasn’t leaving until 6pm, they let me have a late checkout so I could enjoy the beach for one last day prior to going home and not have to worry about what to do with all of my luggage.
There isn’t a pool here, but who needs an artificial chlorine-filled hole in the ground when you have the beautiful natural ocean just feet away from your door. They do offer complimentary parking right at the property.
I like to fancy myself quite the discerning traveler and I can safely say this property gets five stars from me! If I’m ever in the area again I wouldn’t even think about staying anywhere else. I even got a kiss on the cheek to say “ciao” in true Italian fashion!

PS – I’d also like to mention that in comparison to the Fort Lauderdale Beach area, I MUCH more prefer to stay near Hollywood Beach. There are tons more shops and restaurants and there is a lot going on for families and tourists of all ages. It’s not JUST about the resorts here like it is in Ft. Lauderdale–it seems to also be about the community. There was a free concert on the beach when I was there and there are bike rentals as well as parks and a much prettier beach.
